Baidu Partners MediaTek, Mobile Phone Makers for Wireless Search Service

Chinese Internet search service provider Baidu announced on May 4 that it has formed strategic partnerships with Taiwanese mobile phone chipset provider MediaTek, Korean mobile phone vendor Samsung Electronics, and Chinese mobile phone makers Lenovo and Beijing Tianyu Communication Equipment, Taiwan's Economic Daily News reported on May 5. Via the strategic partnerships, it is projected that Baidu's wireless search services will be embedded in its partners' mobile phones and platforms. MediaTek and Baidu are expected to jointly develop wireless search applications based on MediaTek operating system. Meanwhile, Samsung is due to release two mobile phones, codenamed S8300 and S5230, with pre-installed Baidu search engine in May. It is reported that Baidu is also seeking collaboration with Chinese telecom operators China Telecom and China Unicom.
